NeuBird Features · Risk Sentinel
Risks found before they page anyone.
Risk Sentinel looks for what will hurt production next. NeuBird scans the environment proactively, records every risk it finds as a signal, and groups the signals by category, so you can see where the exposure is and clear it before anyone is paged.
- 01checkout-api has no SLO. Define a p99 latency objective before the next release.
- 02orders-db peaks at 88% of max connections. Cap the per-pod pool size.
- 03payments-worker has no owner in PagerDuty. Assign an escalation policy.

How Risk Sentinel works
What does Risk Sentinel look for?
Risk Sentinel sorts what it finds into three categories.
- Reliability: blind spots that let an incident grow unseen, such as services with no SLO, services with no owner, weak signals and resources running close to their limits.
- Cost: spend that buys nothing, such as idle capacity or retention set longer than anyone needs.
- Security: exposure in the environment, such as storage open to the public.
How do I read the risk chart?
The chart divides the environment's forward-looking risk by number of signals. With 10 signals, for example, 6 might be reliability risks, 3 cost and 1 security. The largest slice shows where your exposure is concentrated.
What do I do with a risk?
Each category opens a list of actionable steps, one per signal. A reliability step might be to define a latency objective for a service before its next release; a cost step might be to scale down an idle node group. Any action that changes your environment follows your approval policy, with human approval on every action.
How does Risk Sentinel prevent incidents?
Most incidents start as a risk someone could have seen: an unowned service, a missing objective, a resource creeping toward its limit. Risk Sentinel is part of how NeuBird works before the page, surfacing those blind spots while they are still cheap to fix. Once an incident does start, Signals and Investigations take over.
FAQ
Common questions
What is NeuBird Risk Sentinel?
Risk Sentinel is the NeuBird feature that proactively scans your environment for forward-looking risk. It records each risk as a signal, groups signals into reliability, cost and security categories, and gives actionable steps for each one.
How is Risk Sentinel different from alerting?
An alert fires when a threshold has already been crossed. Risk Sentinel looks for conditions that make an incident likely, such as unowned services, missing SLOs and resources near their limits, so they can be fixed before anything pages.
Does Risk Sentinel change my environment on its own?
No. Risk Sentinel recommends steps. Any change to your environment follows your NeuBird autonomy policy, Suggest, Recommend or Act, with human approval on every action.
